I was listening to the Disenchanted Kingdom (King DJ Logan, Cleo Caliente & Marf) this morning and the topics that they have discussed included a certain Stanley Philander who was besieged by relatives because the man, as per a South African national newspaper, REPORTEDLY, won the SA National Lottery.

However, when he was about to claim his winnings, the Lottery Admin said that it was not him who won the Lottery but an unnamed 43-year old woman.

Yes, the numbers were identical, however, it is said that Philander bought the ticket AFTER the draw.

Wow. Moments like these will leave someone nuts and want to smack themselves in the head and just die. How sad.

It sucks when you were given false hopes (or somehow, have developed) and then at the end of the day your bubble will be burst by reality: your hopes are in vain.

Ah, I just hate it when people give you false hopes. Well, the things that they do may be deliberate or unintentional, but still, it sucks when you suddenly realized that you believed these things and made a fool out of yourself.

Take for example, when a certain girl likes some guy, and then this girl does not do anything to flirt with the guy because, of course, she's sort of conservative or anything.
And then the guy starts doing certain things that are too nice (pa-fall) and these too-nice stuffs were misconstrued by the girl as "pa-simpleng pag-diskarte" or simply put, the girl thinks that the guy probably digs her too.

So the girl waits. And waits. And effing waits. Nothing happened.

And then she will receive news that the guy is actually attached. Well, she sort of questioned the guy before if he was in a relationship or not but then the guy denied it, so the poor girl continued dreaming on.

And so the heartbreak happens.

I remember when I was still in college, I was sooooo head-over-heels in love with a guy named JB (from another course, not Accountancy). I've been mooning over him since first year and have no plans of confessing until I discovered news that prompted me to say how I feel.

So one day, I just gathered all my wits and courage, and wrote a letter, saying:

"Just because it's Christmas,
And at Christmas you say what you feel,
WITHOUT ANY HOPE OR AGENDA (and I want to emphasize that)
To me, you are PERFECT,
and my wasted heart will always love you."

Yeah, yeah, I know, super cheesy, barf if you want, you have the right (and a point anyway).
After that, we became good friends. Much better kasi he greets me every other time we see each other, unlike before.

But the great thing about him is HE DREW A VERY FINE LINE: he befriended me without giving me false notions that he probably likes me or will probably like me in the future.
so there, no false hopes, no expectations, no disappointments (but of course I'd be a hypocrite if I'd say that I wasn't hurt; at least he was honest enough to imply).

As said by Ga Eul (Boys Over Flowers) to Yi Jeung in Episode 24...

Ga Eul: "I just want you to know that I will now stop pursuing you. I followed *name of Yi Jeong's ex-girlfriend*'s advice that you must do everything that you can so that there will be no regrets and no lingering feelings."

And the "moving on" phase was a breeze. I did everything that I can (of course, on the context that you are not harming any other people in the process and that you won't ) to let him know how I feel. So even if he did not reciprocate, it was okay because at least, I got to relieve myself from tension and get rid of the "WHAT IFs".

Probably that's the best advice that I can extend to that poor girl. Whew.

I know she did everything, but I guess, her best wasn't good enough. The guy was playing around, anyway.

That's enough, time to pack up. The guy's not worth the effort.
